DangerDen Plexiglass Socket A Clamp

Intro
For the watercooling enthusiast, getting or building the waterblock is just half of the story.  Installing it on your CPU is another thing.  Clamping it is the usual way we get around to this problem.

There are a lot of ways to clamp your waterblock and a lot of clamps to choose from as well.  Getting the waterblock positioned properly is the most vital part in its setup.  I've seen a lot of hold down clamps and so far they all work well.  Now you would think I would be satisfied.  Knowing there is always something better is something that makes everyone of us happy.

DangerDen Plexiglass Socket A Clamp
If you're gonna look closely at your socket A boards, you might see 4 holes in the motherboard directly surrounding the socket.  They're not just there for no reason.  AMD socket A boards manufacturers must have known that becasue these chips produce so much heat that they made a board that can be upgradeable should you decide to change to a more powerful cooling system.  Honestly they are thinking of us overclockers, with the watercooling breed in mind.  Now this is a good thing that most of us can take advantage of.  Using this to hold down your waterblock is the most effective way to get it stable and positioned properly, like the way you want it.

We've seen the common hold downs.  Sometimes I have to use 2 of them just to get the block steady and firm in its place.

Now there's a better way of doing it....

DangerDen has the right thing in mind when they made the Plexiglass Socket A Clamp for their A-Maze-ing Copper Block (Maze1) making use of that 4 holes.

1 - Plexiglass 3" x 2.25" x 1/4"
1 - Thumbscrew, 4 - 8-32 Bolts, 12- 8-32 Nuts
Costs US$12

Made of plexiglass, this socket A clamp is not only appealing to the eyes but does the work done perfectly. Just like other hold downs, DangerDen also included a hole in the middle for the thumbscrew to further hold the waterblock in place and to make sure that the block is pressing completely against the CPU core.

Installation
Using the bolts to screw the clamp together with the waterblock to the motherboard is just so easy.  Adjustment can be easily done just by tightening or loosening the nuts.

Final Words
If you're happy with your current hold down clamp, then you're alright.  For those who are not, then this might be the answer for you.  Those thinking of doing a watercooling rig, you might wanna have a look at this first before purchasing your waterblock.  Those thinking of building their own waterblock, you can have them made so that it would fit the holes in the plexiglass.  The only downside is for those who want to incorporate their current block, if the shoes, I mean the holes, don't fit then it's gonna be a problem.  Although I've seen people who made their way around it by drilling the plexiglass and making some new holes. All I can say is that if you want it, get it here.  It's worth your money.   Wouldn't rust or corrode.  Because its made of plexiglass and the nuts and bolts are all made of plastic, it should last you forever until you break it.
