Introduction
With new RAM technology coming out lately
like DDR-RAM and the expensive RDRAM, you would think SDRAM would be pushed
aside. Well the answer is NO. At least not yet. DDR might
already be available but there are still only a few DDR boards out in the
market. With the success of the latest KT133A boards for AMD processors
and with the expensive prices of RDRAM and P4, SDRAM is still here to stay.
Now which memory has proven its performance time and time again? MUSHKIN.
In our last review of Mushkin products, we have reviewed their 128 MB High Perf. REV2 PC133 Cas222 which was guaranteed to run at 133mhz CAS2, link here. That module proved its capabilities by running CAS2 @ 158mhz and 164mhz @ CAS3 in an Intel P3 CuMine test bed.
Now comes REV3!!!
The module comes in a packaging similar to that of the REV2, so you're sure it's 100% unharmed when it reaches you. The REV3 is rated and guaranteed to run at speeds up to 150mhz @ CAS2. Now remember the REV2 was rated to run @ 133mhz CAS2 but it went up to 158mhz CAS2. Does this mean the REV3 would go beyond that? If not then you'll probably be better off getting just the REV2 which is a little bit cheaper. Well, let's find out shall we?
The Module

With REV2 they used Mosel Vitalic chips. For REV3 they decided to use Infineon chips. The chip(HYB39S128800CT-7.5) on this module are manufactured by Siemens Infineon and they are organized as a 16Mx64 module using 8 16Mx8 chips integrated with Mushkin's new high quality, black, 6-layer glass-epoxy substrate PCB board.
