TOTAL CONDENSATION PREVENTION ON AIR COOLED PELTIER RIGS
"The Update"
By Ramil Tranquilino

Introduction
The use of peltiers or TECs, thermo electric coolers is becoming a fast growing habit for overclockers.  It's easy to install, it does a great job at cooling your CPU and it is relatively cheap if you're thinking of supercooling your rig.  With this device you are assured of a drastic drop in your CPU temps and better your chances when it comes to overclocking.  Although there are dangers involve in using such device like condensation and the possibility of frying the chip when the fans fail, these cooling equipment is finding their way into the hands of extreme overclockers worldwide.

That's why a few months ago I've formulated a technique to totally prevent if not control condensation woes involved on peltier rigged systems, article here.  It was a very effective technique, as expressed by thousands of readers who applied the procedure.  Even up to now there are a lot of thank you mails from overclockers who has been helped by the technique.  As it is one of the most comprehensive howto made on peltier condensation prevention.

Update
Recently there has been a sudden influx of mails again regarding the article.  I was amazed by the big increase in the number of people out there trying out the power of the TECs.  They've applied the technique and was very happy with the results.  This made me think, is there a need to update the technique?  In those months since the article was written, has there been better ways or materials that can be used to further ensure condensation prevention.

New Stuff
Just like everything else, new stuff keeps turning up to further improve current equipment/application in use.  In my conquest for looking for a new space age stuff to use for cooling solutions, I have found 2 new materials worthy to be integrated with the old but still effective howto.

  • Dow Corning Conformal Coating- read the review here.
  • Neoprene- this is a waterproof, high-warmth, and water pressure resistant sheet that is used in pipes insulation, hoses, scuba diving suits, and all other watersport suits.  These synthetic rubber comes in various thickness and color.  Perfect insulator.
