Introduction

Heatsinks have certainly come a long way. A few years ago, you could name only a few companies that actually offered a line of heatsinks. Nowadays, the market is overflowing with companies, each with their own range of heatsinks offering different designs and made from different materials. All of this comes about as a result of the enthusiast/overclocker's desire to get more out of their processors.

Even though a lot of heatsinks have been made, they all use basically the same heatsink technology. It has been a matter of having the better design and using the right material that enabled companies to better each other. We've seen a range of different looking heatsinks, each bearing a slightly different approach. Some have been forged, some extruded, some soldered, but we never really moved away from that same technology we have been using for such a long time now. Not on desktop processor cooling at least.

Finally, after years of the same thing, a company has ventured into a different way of cooling your processor.... *drumroll*..... The HEATPIPE! This technology has actually been around for a very long time. What may surprise you is that it has already been used for cooling processor chips. So what's different? Indeed it has been used before for cooling processors but this was only used in machines where normal heatsinks and fans don't really fit. This amazing pipe has been widely used for notebook & lap top computers, but never before has anyone come close to bringing this application to the desktop computer. Now someone has finally made the heatpipe technology a reality for the desktop processor. What's more, it's not only aimed for conventional cooling but for extreme cooling. Introducing Cooler Master's Heatpipe Cooling offering, the HHC-001.
