The Corsair HX620W PSU is packaged in a sturdy black and red box. The box is laden with the customary specs and features wordings all over it. Inside you’ll find the PSU unit cushioned and safely protected by a thick semi-hard foam. The package consists of the PSU, power cord, modular cable set, mounting screws, case badge, cable ties and a user manual. All the modular cables are neatly tucked inside a black Corsair bag. Overall, an outstanding package for a PSU.

The unit itself comes in a black non-reflective housing. It is marked all over with Corsair’s red and black color scheme. Simple yet elegant.

Inside the Corsair HX620W, Corsair claims to only use 105ºC rated industrial grade capacitors as opposed to the conventional 85°C rated capacitors. This will definitely contribute greatly to the performance and reliability of the PSU. Inspecting the “guts” further, one can easily see the high standard of the components used by Corsair for this PSU. You will also notice fin-type heatsinks protruding on either sides that should help dissipate the heat when combined with the PSU fan.

This unit is cooled by a single ultra quiet 120mm fan made by ADDA. It runs at a maximum of 2200rpm at 39.1dBA and can deliver up to a maximum of 85.2CFM. It is also worth noting that Corsair used rubber grommets to further minimise the noise caused by fan vibrations. Complementing the huge fan are high-efficiency vents to enhance the performance of the PSU. Its honey comb structure creates maximum ventilation with minimum air resistance. This design also enhances airflow to solve thermal and noise problems.

The modular design allows the user to only install cables that they will use. This prevents the nasty look created by unused cables hanging everywhere. This particular unit boasts one of the most complete set of modular cables we have seen to date. There are more than enough connectors for all your peripherals. Aside from the main sleeved ATX power connector where a +12V 4-pin cable and a +12V 8-pin EPS cable is permanently attached, you also get 10 Molex adapters equipped with unique quick release connectors, 8 SATA power connectors, 2 PCI Express cables, 2 floppy power connectors and 2 4-pin molex female power connectors exclusively for fans only. The length of all the connectors was more than adequate, enough to reach all parts of the case. You have the choice of selecting shorter or longer cables depending on your case needs.
