Introduction

When it comes to memory modules, Corsair is a name that needs no introduction. Having consistenty produced some of the finest memory sticks, they have been known as world leaders of high performance memory modules for quite some time now. You ask any enthusiast, gamer or overclocker and surely one way or the other, they have seen the greatness of this company when it comes to producing superior ram. Speed, performance and realibility, 3 words that would best describe the level of superiority it has over its competition.

What sets Corsair apart from the rest in the high-speed modules market is their experience. Having designed and manufactured high-speed modules since 1994, they know the importance of design features like tighly controlled trace lenghts, controlled impedances, clock trace design, unbroken power and ground planes and selectively plated gold. They know the rules, they even helped invent some of them, and they follow them relentlessly.

Mission-critical workstations, gaming platforms and high-end server, you name it and Corsair has provided stability and realibility into each platform. Recently, they have extended their system and memory expertise to the gaming and enthusiast community with their Extended Memory Speed (XMS) products, a family of modules designed specifically for those who pushes their computers to the limits.

Today we will test their latest DDR module intended for use on dual channel DDR configurations and see how far we can push it. We will find out if it carries the same tradition Corsair is known for all those years. Introducing, Corsair's DDR500 Dual Channel DDR offering, the TWINX1024-4000 1Gb Kit!

TWINX1024-4000

TWINX 1024-4000 matched memory pairs are specifically designed for motherboards using chipsets with dual memory channels. This includes Intel chipsets like the i875P aka Canterwood, the i865PE/G aka Springdale and the Nvidia nForce2 Ultra 400 for the AMD. This memory kit consists of two ultra high-speed memory modules that have tested together at 500mhz on a Canterwood based dual-channel motherboard. Both modules has been verified to operate at that speed using a relaxed latency setting of 3-4-4-8. Each module is a 512mb, two bank, ultra-performance DDR SDRAM DIMM that has been tested extensively in a variety of motherboards commonly used in gaming rigs. Rest assured that they will work at the rated speed of 250mhz (DDR500) and beyond. Something that is expected being a module made by Corsair. Can they have another winner in this TWINX XMS4000 1Gb kit?
