Installation and Performance
We will use 2 setups to test the e.SATA solution. An SATA-less motherboard will be used for the RocketMate 1000 and Rocket 1511. Then a motherboard with an integrated SATA will be used for the B11 accessory bracket and RocketMate 1000.
Using SiSoftware's Sandra 2003 Pro File System benchmark, we can see that e.SATA is indeed dramatically faster than any USB 2.0 or Firewire external storage solution.
Onboard SATA w/ B11 Rocket 1511 Adapter
From the above results, it looks like the onboard SATA option scores better than the one using the SATA Adapter card. So for those with integrated SATA, this is even better.
Conclusion
Not only is it super fast but now you can have bigger storage for your backup needs without having to pay megabucks for it. You can have as much as the biggest hard drive capacity currently available. And it doesn't need to be Serial ATA. PATA will just do fine.
The e.SATA will be highly welcomed by a lot of people who needs heaps of space for data storage. It is easy to install and will make backing up as easy as cut and paste at an extremely fast speed.
Pros
