The Iwill KA266 was the world's first available DDR mainboard. This DDR board was based on the ALi Magic Chipset which was also the first DDR chipset available for the AMD Athlon and Duron processors. After its release, a lot of people saw for the first time the advantage of having DDR. A lot were also still skeptical especially those who were getting almost identical scores in their benchmarks with their non-DDR boards. With prices of DDR then still very high, some thought that the upgrade was not necessary. I was one of those who had the same feeling. With the prices of DDR dirt cheap now, upgrading to DDR is inevitable.
Iwill's KA266 DDR board was the first of its kind and therefore some features weren't perfect when it was released. But still at the time, people were very much pleased with its perfromance, overclockability and stability. After a few months and some DDR chipsets later, Iwill is back again with their new version of their original KA266, this time being 'Designed for Overclockers', Iwill's new DDR board is ready for the testing.
Iwill KA266+
Iwill has already proved that when they said it was 'designed for overclockers', they really meant it. This was seen just recently with our review of their KK266plus, another improved version of their already highly successful KT133A board which went all the way up to 165mhz FSB- ROCK SOLID! Now here they are again with another 'plus' version, this time with their DDR board, the KA266+. Octools was lucky enough to be the first to get a review out of this great DDR motherboard.
Will the KA266's 'plus' version follow the steps of Iwill's previous 'plus' release? Will Iwill's "designed for overclockers" slogan live up to its name once again, this time with their KA266+? Only one way to find out...Here's a tip though, our previous KK266+'s rock solid 165mhz FSB achievement is nothing compared to what this board could do! Hooked up now?
