Have you ever wonder how to make your life easier from switching different hard disks every time you need to change/swap different OS installed on them or for back up purposes.  Well if that's the case then Trios II PX-920T2 multi drive selector is what you are waiting for.

History

RomtecUSA company has started on making some new cool gadget that I have never even seen any other like it out on the market that focuses on "Data Storage & Reliable Security".  Some of their products are Trios X-net which is for total internet security solution, and the Trios multi hard disk selector.  Their first Trios hard drive selector was the Trios RX-910T6 and their new successor the Trios II PX-920T2.  The Trios II PX-920T2 is the slicker, bigger and better brother of the Trios RX-910T6 which is the first Trios hard drive selector product of RomtecUSA.

As you can see the new Trios II is the better more hi-tech looking of them two.  No more 5-1/4" Bay requirement because the Trios II is now a pci card with a remote control panel to control it with.  As you can see the new Trios II has a lot of new good improvement compared to its first Trios multi drive selector unit.

What's in the box

The Trios II comes with a complete package for its multi drive selector task.  It comes with three ATA-133 IDE cables for the hard disks and one data ATA-133 cable for the motherboard.  Also it comes with its power supply utilities to power itself up.  The only thing I noticed about the Trios II hardware requirement is a ATX model machine with at least 250watts power supply unit and of course a pci slot for the Trios II card.  Also something that isn't included on the picture is the control panels cat 5 looking cable that connects to the control panel and to the Trios II pci card.  Finally, of course the two most important parts of the Trios II is the new slick control panel remote control and the Trios II pci card.  The control panel remote of the Trios II lets you pick between your master drive and slave drive which is helpful for your multi-configuration.

Installation

Installation of the Trios II is pretty simple to install, all thanks to the clear picture instruction 1-12 easy steps that came with the box for the Trios II.  The only think that I didn't like about the installation of the pci card for the Trios II is that it takes two pci slots space when the ATA-133 cables get connected to it.  Also don't worry Trios II is Plug & Play compatible.

Features

Trios II has a lot of useful features that you can use it for.  Some of my favorite features of the Trios II is the fact that you can use 3 different OS on each hard disk which on my computer setup I had Win-XP pro on the first hard disk and Win-2k Advanced Server on the second hard disk and finally Win98 SE on the third hard disk.  Also the files/data's on the different hard disk are all isolated from each other which are fully secured.  Another useful feature of the Trios II is that it lets you connect three hard disks from the Trios II pci card which the card uses/required one of your IDE ports of your motherboard.  It's a great alternative to Raid incase your thinking of a buying one, the Trios II can provide you with a multi-drive selector and a raid alternative function also, what can I say wow I'm impressed ^_^.

Conclusion

RomtecUSA has done very well with their home works to improve their first Trios multi drive selector product.  Once again RomtecUSA has provided a well enhanced better version solution called the Trios II PX-920T2 which is the bigger enhanced version of the first Trios.  I strongly recommend Trios II for it's innovative features and its a one of a kind cool product on the market.  You will never see anything like it that will make your life easier for switching OS task, backing up your data's and securing them.
